Walk-ups welcome

I’ve been saying this for a few weeks now, but I’ll say it one last time. While pre-sale tickets sold out in 24 hours. I’ve left space for walk-up tickets and people who could not make the event.

So if you were unable to secure a ticket, come on by and purchase one.

If you are still unable to make it, you can follow WordCamp via the live blog and photo blog!

Happy camping!

One week till WordCamp

We’re just passed the one week point and while pre-sale tickets have sold out we’ve left room for walk-up tickets ($20) since that was so popular the last three years. I don’t expect us to sell out, so there is no rush when checking in.

I would also like to thank our sponsors got helping with this years WordCamp.

LMU, InMotion Hosting, Dreamhost, WPEngine, Code Poet, Frosty Web Designs, CyberChimps, BinaryM, foxycart, ServerPress, MaxCDN, BOP Design, Pixel Jar and 9seeds.

Thank you!

Thought we we’re sold out? Guess again!

It seems this years WordCamp was a desirable one. We sold 200 tickets in exactly 24 hours. But guess what? We’ve still got space for more attendees! So, on Monday the 27th at 10am I am going to be releasing 80 more pre-event tickets.

Tickets

Ticket prices will be $20 for the next release, but will NOT include a t-shirt. I am sorry in advance, but you missed the guaranteed shirt ticket deadline.

Sold Out

Even after these last 80 tickets sell, we will be allowing walkups to the event. In my experience of organizing the last three camps in LA, quite a few people are no shows or have last minute engagements and can’t make it. So if you are unsure if you can make it and don’t purchase a ticket; Walk ups will be welcomed.

Speakers

If you’ve been checking the site, you’ll notice we’ve got a full schedule up and 16 speakers at this years WordCamp.

Sponsors

Of coarse WordCamp wouldn’t be much of a conference without the speakers, but we wouln’t be able to purchase event shirts, organize the whole thing or host an awesome after party without the sponsors.

So I’d like to take a quick moment and thank the following sponsors: LMU, InMotion Hosting, WP Engine, Code Poet, Frosty Web Designs, Cyberchimps, BinaryM, ServerPress, MaxCDN and Bop Design.

Thanks,

See you next month!

The time you’ve been waiting for!

So San Fransisco just happened this week. And while this was the first time I didn’t attend in four years, I felt like I was there following along on Twitter via #wcsf. I was also busy finalizing the LA speakers list and getting ready to open ticket sales.

While we’re still at 14 speakers with room for a few more, I am ready to start selling tickets! So, here is the deal (don’t click it yet):

Sales open up August 7th @ 12pm PST. You can purchase your ticket at 2012.la.wordcamp.org/attendees/signup/, BUT…

Please note, the above link will 404 until noon on the 7th (tomorrow).

Tickets

Ticket prices for general admission will be $20. And the first 40 attendee’s who purchase the Early Bird package will save $5 for a $15 ticket.

Discounts

If you are a current student of Loyola Marymount (LMU) you are eligible for a free ticket, email la@wordcamp.org for more info.

Once again, please note, the ticket sale link will 404 until noon on the 7th (tomorrow).

Sponsors

We are still looking for additional sponsors, and you can see the sponsor levels here. If you plan on sponsoring WordCamp, you do not need to purchase a ticket to the event.

Closing

You are the first to know about ticket sales. There are only 200 tickets available this year to start. I may open up as much as 100 more when the event draws near, or do walk-ups. Last year we had over 300 attendee’s so space is limited. You’ve got until tomorrow evening before I announce the tickets on facebook and Twitter.

Thanks,

See you next month!

First Speakers Announced for 2012

With less than six weeks till the fourth WordCamp takes place in Los Angeles, I have began to go through all speaker submissions. Out of the sixteen or so I’ve selected 10 speakers in the first round. I still have a few more submissions to go though, and I could still use a few more people submitting…

For now, check out the speakers, and check back later today to see their session topics.

We are still looking for sponsors.

Ticket sales should open up soon.

WordCamp followup

Hello,

It’s been close to three months since WordCamp Los Angeles took place. And well, I’d like to do a late follow up email regarding the event. All of the videos from 2011 can be found on WordCamp TV. I’ve also posted many of the speakers slides on our blog.

Photos

I tried my best to find all photos taken at the event and link to them in the Collection of Photos post. If you took photos and published them online, email/tweet/facebook me the link.

Upcoming Camps

WordCamp Las Vegas is coming up December 17th, and I’ll be attending and speaking. So if you can get the time off, or need a vacation, WordCamp Vegas should be your destination! Come say hi if you make it out.

Cyber Monday

Since today is the digital Black Friday, I though I’d mention some great deals that some of our sponsors are offering.

  • InMotion Hosting: 50% Power Plan, Pro Plan or VPS 512M. link
  • MaxCDN: 1TB for $1! link
  • TheFrosty.com: save up to 10% off WordPress plugins and themes link.

See you in twenty twelve!
